At every General Conference since 1972, much energy has been expended in discussing the section on Human Sexuality in the Book of Discipline. The “incompatible with Christian teaching” statement, the prohibition on same-sex marriages, and the exclusion of self-avowed practicing homosexuals from ordination have consistently been reviewed.

The oldest church in Rockdale County, Ebenezer had its beginnings in camp meetings, the first of which was documented in 1818 on the current property. After 10 years of arbor-type camp meetings, a log meeting house was raised and a church organized in 1828.
