ANNUAL OPEN ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

November is open enrollment month for HealthFlex, the North Georgia Conference health insurance plan. From November 9-30, 2007 active participants may 1) set up a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or 2) enroll/terminate eligible family members.

An FSA may be a Medical Reimbursement Account (MRA) for medical expenses or a Dependent Care Account (DCA) for day care expenses. You may elect either account in any amount from $300-$5,000 for 2008. You contribute pre-tax dollars to reimburse yourself for the expenses you expect.  The MRA will reimburse your cost in dental bills, office visit co-pays, pharmacy co-pays, over the counter drugs, eye glasses, etc. while reducing your taxable income. The DCA will reimburse you for qualified dependent day care expenses while reducing your taxable income. These accounts must be elected every year; it will not roll over from year to year. You will receive election material from the General Board of Pension & Health Benefits. Start your election by going to www.gbophb.org, choose HealthFlex WebMD, and login. You will click on “election” in the upper left corner of the screen. You will need your PIN from the election worksheet to complete this process. Be sure to save your election. Give a copy of your election to your treasurer so the withholding from your payroll will be correct.

To enroll/terminate a family member, fill out a HealthFlex Enrollment/Change Form (www.ngumc.org > Benefits Office > Downloads & Resources) and fax it to the Benefits Office at 678-533-1380. Enrollment/termination requires your signature as well as a signature from the North Georgia Conference. You can not make these changes online.

Even if you do not want to make an election, please check out the GBOP WebMD site (www.gbop.org), as well as your personal profile and resource information by following the steps above. When you click on “election” you are viewing your HealthFlex record with the GBOPHB. While logged on to our WebMD portal, why not update your Health Risk Quotient? If you and your covered spouse do not take the HQ in 2007, then you will not have the extra VSP “glasses coverage” for all of 2008.
