Read any good books lately?
What are United Methodists reading these days? It seems like I have been "waiting" more than usual over the past several months - whether at the doctor's office, or during my children's orthodontist appointments, at the airport, in the carpool line, or on the porch awaiting the arrival of friends and relatives for a visit. I've had a pile of books on my desk forever that I've wanted to read but never seemed to have the time. However, by having a book in the car - I find that there is more time available for me to read while "waiting," and I'm at least exercising my mind if not my body during those moments.
Some of the books that are currently being discussed:
God the What? What Metaphors for God Reveal About Our Beliefs in God by Carolyn Jane Bohler
Undone by Easter: Keeping Preaching Fresh by William H. Willimon
Sustainable Youth Ministry by Mark DeVries
The First 48 Hours: Spiritual Caregivers as First Responders by Jennifer Cisney & Kevin Ellers
If God Is Your Co-Pilot, Swap Seats! by James W. Moore
The Balancing Act: A Daily Rediscovery of Grace by Robert Schnase
The Gift of Presence: A Guide to Helping Those Who Suffer by Joe E. Pennel, Jr.
Christianity for the Rest of Us by Barbara Brown Taylor
Simple Church by Thom S. Rainer and Eric Geiger
