Part-Time Organist - Bethany United Methodist Church
Bethany UMC, 760 Hurt Rd., Smyrna, GA, is searching for a part-time Organist for their traditional service at 11:00 a.m. Duties are performing prelude, postlude, offertory and accompniment of hymns; selecting and turning in on a timely manner the prelude, postlude, and offertory music; prepare special music for seasonal events such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter; play for Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday services; accompany the Chancel Choir when requested to do so on special music; and meet with the the Director of Music regularly. The Organist has the option to play at weddings and funeral services for additional compensation from those receiving the services. Qualifications: a Bachelor of Music or Organ Performance Degree preferred, or relevant experience; a minimum two years experience in a church-related setting; attested musical skills and competence; must be a strong team player with staff and congregation; dependable, responsible, creative, and self-motivated; and a sense of humor and positive attitude. Director of Music
The Director of Music of Fairburn United Methodist Church must possess a thorough knowledge of music through higher education, experience, and formal training. S/he must have the ability to direct a choir, conduct a church music program, work well with people, and demonstrate a willingness to develop new skills and grow in musicianship as needed. The successful candidate will be evaluated on the basis of character and maturity; chemistry with staff, congregation and choir; commitment to excellence in worship; and musical competence.
1. The Director of Music is accountable for the total music program of all church services, assists in worship planning and coordinates with the Pastor on the music to be presented for each service.
2. The Director of Music will:
a. recruit, train and nurture committed and capable vocalists and muscians to lead in worship.
b. direct the adult Chancel Choir at all weekly and special rehearsals and church services.
c. supervise and coordinate the direction of rehearsals and performances of any Children’s Choirs, Youth Choirs, and Hand Bell Choirs.
d. coordinate with community churches for joint music and/or worship services.
e. enrich congregational life and worship through educational activity that engages the congregation in learning new hymns, increases understanding of the function of music in worship and elevates participation.
3. The Director of Music will be a member of the Worship Committee, and will be expected to attend meetings of this committee as needed.
4. The Director of Music will attend staff meetings as scheduled by the Pastor.

will facilitate growth in the faith for people in the life of the church.
Director of Music Ministries Duties
The Director of Music Ministries will work with the music coordinator to ensure the
following:
1. Provide leadership and direction for all Music Ministries
2. Direct Chancel Choir
3. Select/Order appropriate anthems for weekly services
4. Plan appropriate music for worship
5. Be prepared for rehearsal
6. Contact members as needed (may keep roll book for attendance on Wednesday and
Sunday and call or send cards to let members know they are missed or inform them of
special changes)
7. Recruit new members for all choirs
8. Assist the volunteer directors in planning performance logistics for various
choirs, hand bells, sacred dance group, and may assist in selection of music to
include these groups
9. Schedule all special music in all worship services
10. Have meetings (at least quarterly) with all volunteers directors to keep them
informed of performance opportunities and schedules
11. Investigate and/or direct small ensembles for singing occasionally
12. Prepare, submit and administer annual budget for all music groups in conjunction
with the music coordinator
13. Attend staff, Administrative Board and Council on Ministries meetings. Also
serve on other commissions or committees as assigned.
14. Direct Youth Choir
15. Plan, prepare and organize Youth Choir for summer tour
16. Attend appropriate training seminars and workshops (e.g. conducting, choral music)
17. Investigate, initiate and/or direct new music ministries for all age groups when
appropriate.
18. Participate in all required church staff activities
19. Other duties as assigned
Music Assistant

Minister of Worship, part-time
We are a growing congregation in search of a part-time Minister of Worship who will bring excellence and passion to our Sunday morning services. The successful candidate will be familiar with traditional, as well as modern worship styles (e.g. contemporary, emergent). Although the primary responsibilities for this position are musical, including selecting music and directing the choir, the Minister of Worship also has input into the drama, visual, and media elements of worship.
