At this year's Annual Conference, North Georgia will say "Goodbye and Thank You" to Bishop Lindsey Davis and Jennifer Davis. They will be moving in August after 12 years of faithful service to this Conference. 

Bishop and Mrs. Davis have requested that the Conference designate the traditional Love Offering for a departing Bishop be given to missions. Half will go to ministry in the Algalta Valley of Honduras and half will go to Venezuela Now. This offering will be collected by Wednesday, June 18, and presented to them on Thursday, June 19.

To: Pastors, Lay Leaders, and Lay Delegates to the Annual Conference

Not since Bishop John Owen Smith has North Georgia had a bishop serve as our Episcopal leader for 12 years. The 2008 session of the Annual Conference will be Bishop Davis’ last to preside before he receives a new appointment at the Jurisdictional Conference. We want to honor him and Jennifer and send them off with our love and blessings.

Bishop and Mrs. Davis have requested that rather than receive a love offering for them we will make this year’s Bishop’s offering in their honor given to two mission causes they have designated. Half of the offering will go to Venezuela NOW, to support the training of pastors in the Methodist Church of Venezuela. The other half will be used to continue Jennifer’s work in the Agalta Valley of Honduras, a ministry to children through schools and provides for their basic health and nutritional needs.

We want to present them with a check representing the offering at the celebration on Thursday evening. You may place your gifts in the offering during the evangelism service on Wednesday afternoon or turn them into one of the Treasurer’s Office staff or one of the Assistant Secretaries.

We are blessed to serve together in a great conference. We need to celebrate the ministry of Bishop and Mrs. Davis in our midst for 12 wonderful years that honors them and gives testimony to who we are as an annual conference.

May this years offering be our greatest yet, yes to honor the Davis’s, but more so that the cause of Christ can be expanded through the missions that will benefit.
