Hope for Africa Children's Choir perform for the delegates. After their performance in Texas, the children will tour and sing at United Methodist churches in Arkansas, Georgia, Wisconsin, Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee until the end of July.

North Georgia delegates discovered this morning that a few of them had no voting key pads. Tom Jackson, NGC General Conference lay delegate, tells a floor marshal about this prior to the first vote of the morning.
Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President of Liberia, and the first democratically elected woman in Africa, addressed the General Conference Session. She states that: 65% of the youth in Liberia are illiterate; 60% are out of school; and 75% of their schools have been destroyed or made nonfunctional. “We need the Church now as never before because the task of national renewal is huge. We need to give our people peace and hope."
