UMM Will Coordinate Volunteers in Rebuilding Burned Cottage

The United Methodist Children’s Home and the United Methodist Men of the North Georgia Conference announce the construction of the replacement building for Leigh Cottage, which housed young men until it was destroyed by fire in November 2007.  The Children's Home has retained Upon the Rock Construction Company to serve as the General Contractor, and the UMMen have agreed to coordinate volunteers for the rebuilding effort.

Architectural and construction plans are being finalized for the new building.  The remains of the old building will be removed as soon as required approvals are obtained from various government agencies and groups. Construction of the new building will follow and is expected to last 18 to 24 months.  Volunteers will provide the majority of the labor force for the rebuilding effort, with the work overseen by an onsite construction supervisor.  Licensed contractors will complete various phases of the construction as required.
