About Us
Vision Statement
As advocates, we are called by the Holy Spirit to seek justice, empowerment and inclusiveness for the estranged and ourselves in order to celebrate our lives together in the one body of Christ.
Mission Statement
Minimize barriers to inclusiveness to empower others to act through faith.
Role and Responsibility
The Advocacy Team of ministries fulfills its Vision and Mission to the Conference by providing guidance and resources to churches in the conference as they seek to develop programs of inclusiveness, empowerment and ministry to their communities. Advocacy training is provided to enable them to increase their level of awareness about advocacy issues and opportunities and to enhance their advocacy skills. The Advocacy Team assists local churches in connecting their faith and works through the provision of grants, resource information and by facilitating partnerships that address advocacy for justice. The Advocacy Team also provides feedback to the Annual Conference regarding racial, ethnic, gender, and disability inclusiveness in its activities and organizational components as prescribed by the Book of Discipline.
