The Rio Texas Conference has extended an invitation for trained ERT teams to deploy to areas affected by the flooding in Texas. They are currently deploying teams in Wimberley and San Marcos but may have additional areas within the week.
Teams should register at http://riotexas.org/flood-updates
. They will then be contacted by the Rio Texas Conference ERT team coordinator. They have churches that have agreed to house teams and at this time space is limited, but they are trying to expand their housing capacity.
If you have a team that will be deploying, please contact Scott Parrish in Connectional Ministries at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This will help us keep connected and be ready to be a resource for our volunteer teams if /when needed.
Rio Texas also posted guidelines
for assisting flood survivors. To help out in any of the affected conferences or for more information and updates, please visit the conference web pages in Texas.
In response to flooding in the U.S., UMCOR is issuing emergency grants to the Río Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church, Central Texas Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church, and Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference.
Please be in prayer for those effected by the flooding throughout Texas. Donations may be placed in any United Methodist Church offering plate and marked, "US Disaster Response" or Fund Number 4390. Churches should consider assembling UMCOR Cleaning Buckets
and other UMCOR emergency kits.
Do not self-deploy or send unsolicited material supplies.
