LaGrange College Invites North Georgia UMs to Join Mission Trip

6/10/2015

North Georgia United Methodists are invited to participate in LaGrange College Phillippines Mission Trip

LaGrange College hosts annual a service trip to the Philippines. The college works closely with the Kapatiran-Kaunlaran Foundation, Inc. (KKFI), a United Methodist related organization that works in outreach to the poorest communities in metro Manila.

One target community are the 10,000 men, women, and children who live as squatters in the Manila North Cemetery. Another community is near the city of Bulacan, about two hours away from Manila.
These residents make their living as scavengers in a dump site. KKFI works mainly in nutrition and education. LaGrange College students work as tutors and serve meals. We invite clergy and laity from the conference to join us.

You may work either directly with students or assist KKFI in the planning of some long-term projects. Persons
with skills in business, marketing, organic gardening, and education are especially
needed.

The full LaGrange College trip departs from Atlanta on January 7 and returns January 25. It includes 10 days of service with KKFI and one week learning about coral reef ecology as you scuba and snorkel on the nearby island of Oriental Mindoro. The cost of the full trip is about $3200 all inclusive. Shorter trips can be arranged for airfare plus a per diem cost.
