Sunrise Services for Easter Across the Conference

Easter is just days away.  Where are you worshiping this year? We highly recommend one of these Sunrise Services.

Tallulah Falls UMC
Tallulah Falls UMC in conjunction with First Baptist and Victory Homes has a sunrise service at 6:30 on Tallulah Falls School property overlooking the Gorge. This service has been taking place for 75+ years in various spots in the area.   Following the service breakfast is served at Victory Homes. Tallulah Falls UMC’s Rev.  James Turpen did the invocation when the Grandpa Wallenda walked across the Gorge.  James will also be doing the invocation on 7-18-15 when Nick Wallenda is scheduled to recreate the walk.

Explorations in Antiquity Center in LaGrange
The Center will host a free Sunrise Service led by Dr. Fleming at 6:45. Come enjoy your Easter Sunday in their beautiful Archeological Replica Garden. This includes replicas of various moments during the life of Jesus. They are located at 130 Gordon Commercial Drive, LaGrange, GA 30240.

Mt. Bethel UMC of Marietta
Mt. Bethel is having their Sunrise Service on their “Field of Dreams”, recreational field. Attendees can sit in the stands or bring lawn chairs and blankets to listen to a beautiful message at 7:00AM. Following the service is breakfast served in the Fellowship Hall.

East Cobb UMC of Marietta
East Cobb’s service will take place on their, if weather permits, at 7:00AM. It will include acoustic modern/traditional worship along with coffee and hot chocolate. The message will be delivered by Rev. Jim Perry.  Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

St. Paul UMC in Grant Park, Atlanta
Join St. Paul for their special Sunrise Service at 7:00AM at the Historic Oakland Cemetery in Grant Park. The Cemetery is located at 248 Oakland Ave, SE Atlanta, GA 30312

Cumberland UMC and Vinings UMC
Cumberland and Vinings will hold a joint Sunrise service on Vinings Mountain on Easter Sunday. Gather at 6:45 the service will begin at 7:00 a.m.
 

Brookhaven UMC of Atlanta
Brookhaven's Sunrise Service will take place at Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church at 7AM. Join area Catholics, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and United Methodists as everyone celebrates Christ's resurrection. Pastor Wesley Sanders will be preaching.

Sixes UMC of Canton
Sixes United Methodist Church in Canton will have an Easter Sunrise Service on the outskirts of their historic church cemetery, which dates back to the early 1800's. As the sun slowly rises over the beautiful knolls in the cemetery, please join in celebrate the rising of God's Son! We rejoice in our victory over death and sin and shame!

Acworth UMC
Acworth’s service will take place in their amphitheater, facing Lake Acworth, at 7:00AM. The Amphitheater is locating adjacent to their Family Life Center. Watching the sun rise over the lake, they will sing, hear Scripture, pray and hear a message, all with Lake Acworth as the backdrop.  This is a “come as you are” service.  Folks are welcome in pajamas, with blankets and coffee. We have seating for some on wooden benches but welcome those who might bring their own lawn chairs.

Clayton First UMC
Clayton will have their service at 7:00AM on Ministry Mountain at the cross at on the grounds of the Family Life Center.

Hillside UMC of Cartersville
Hillside will have their service at 6:10AM. Traditionally, communion will be celebrated before Rev. Nelson Banegas gives the message

McKendree UMC of Lawrenceville
McKendree will host a Communion Sunrise Service at 7:00AM in either their Outdoor Classroom or in Lockridge Chapel, depending on the weather.

Stone Mountain Park
Attend one of Stone Mountain’s nondenominational services at 7:00AM either on top of the mountain or on the park lawn. Gates open at 4:00AM to allow time for parking. Traditional parking fees apply, except for church buses and vans who can park for free.

Bethany UMC of Smyrna
Bethany is combining Sunrise Services with Shaw Temple AME Zion Church, across the street. Shaw Temple will host the service at 6:30AM followed by breakfast at Bethany. Rev. Susan Taylor will deliver the message.
