CALL CENTER ESTABLISHED AT SIMPSONWOOD
In response to the April storms, the Conference Disaster Response Team has set up a call center to help match cleanup and repair needs with volunteer teams. The phone number for the Call Center is 678.533.1443.

Griffin First UMC will provide 200 meals for the victims of the recent tornado in Spalding County to be distributed by the Red Cross Tuesday evening. We are in need of people to help us get the meals ready. We already have the food, etc. but we need people to come to the kitchen at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon to put the meals together. Manchester First UMC is providing lunches for school children that are not in school due to the school being damaged. They need peanut butter and jelly, small waters and individual powdered drink mixes (e.g. Gatorade mix).Volunteers are needed to help prepare the sandwiches Monday - Friday at 10 a.m. at the church (206 Broad St, Manchester). The Floyd County EMA Crisis Center is located at 300 West 3rd Street, Rome. The center will open May 4 with hours from 8-5, 7 days a week.
Work teams to go out in the field are needed. These include teams of people who can clear debris, certified to run a chainsaw, provide strong backs and willing hearts. Before coming to the Rome/Floyd County area, contact Jim Bradshaw at 770-546-4766.
The Crisis Center will serve as a place to interview storm victims and distribute some items. Volunteers are needed to serve in the center. They will NOT be accepting any more items at this location.
Contribution of items will be accepted at Rome Action Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, and The Salvation Army in Rome and Floyd County. Items needed are: Deodorant, soap, razor, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, sunscreen, female hygiene products, diapers, baby wipes, and hand sanitizer, towels, washcloths, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, gloves, and lidded totes (like Rubbermaid storage bins). Gatorade and water are also needed.
