Bishop Watson joined other North Georgia Conference laity and clergy as a part of the 2011 World Methodist Conference in Durban, South Africa. 2011 marked the 20th world gathering of the Methodist/Wesleyan family with participants visiting from over 132 countries.
The conference is conducted by the World Methodist Council, a Christian World Communion, which has brought the Methodist/Wesleyan family together since 1881 for inspiration, a common witness to Jesus Christ, fellowship, accountability, and to speak as the voice of the Methodist/Wesleyan family around the world.
The North Georgia attendees gathered with other participants under the theme "Jesus Christ—for the Healing of the Nations" and experienced African culture, hospitality and worship, in addition to the joy of being with friends, old and new, from around the world.
