From John Moeller Jr.
President and CEO, Action Ministries
During this season of good will and giving, we often pause to contemplate our blessings. Each of us has something for which to be thankful, and each of us has the opportunity to bless another. Take, for example, this story in Wednesday’s AJC about a formerly homeless man who paid the power bills of 15 to 20 customers standing in line at Georgia Power Co.’s Stockbridge office.
At Action Ministries, we are focused on blessing our North Georgia neighbors in need through hunger, housing and education solutions. This year, we’re proud to join the Feed the Hungry Foundation in support of the Publix Food for Sharing program. The Food for Sharing program provides food for hundreds of hungry families through generous donations from shoppers, a major portion of which goes to Feed the Hungry Foundation for distribution throughout the year. Action Ministries is supporting this effort to help feed more Georgians in their time of need.
Now through Dec. 24 Publix Super Markets in the Atlanta area will accept donations to the Food for Sharing Program. When you check out, simply hand the cashier the Food for Sharing donation slip with your selected donation, and the cost will be added to your grocery bill. You will receive a reusable grocery bag as a special “thank you” gift from Publix. We’re thrilled to be part of the Publix efforts to bless their neighbors in need. Take a look at this Publix commercial, and you’ll be reminded of the real beauty of the season!
As you consider your own blessings this holiday season, will you take a moment to consider how you can bless someone else? Take part in the Food for Sharing program at Publix or make an online donation to Action Ministries through our Giving Matters campaign.
Thank you for your support now and throughout the year!
