Cox named to UMC Economic Advisory Committee
North Georgia Conference Treasurer, Keith Cox, has been named to the Economic Advisory Committee of the United Methodist Church. The committee reports to the General Council on Finance and Administration.
The EAC brings together economists, financial experts, researchers, and church leaders from across the country to discuss economic matters related to United Methodism, and the quantitative study of religion. The work of the committee is an important component of the church’s quadrennial budget process.
“I feel very honored to be invited to serve with this group,” said Cox, who has served as treasurer of the North Georgia Conference for 12 years. “It is not that I am looking for additional responsibility or work but when the church asks, I am not going to say no.”
The Economic Advisory Committee looks into how economic research can benefit the work of the denomination, its annual conferences, and its local churches, while keeping in mind the mission The United Methodist Church.
Cox's first meeting with the EAC will be in February.
