Reinhardt University Launches Football Program

WALESKA, Ga. – Reinhardt University is pleased to announce the launch of its first football program. The program began this year with 140 players, and although not in official competition until fall 2013, the team has been practicing and scrimmaging.

Reinhardt University head football coach Danny Cronic is pleased to announce the inaugural schedule for the Eagles. Reinhardt will kickoff the Fall 2013 season against fellow-first year program Mercer Aug. 31, and then play a full slate of nine games against Mid-South Conference foes.

"We're really working hard to have the team ready for Aug. 31," said coach Cronic.  "You can practice a lot of things, but you can't practice what that first game will be like.  We've got a lot of good players now, but we're still out recruiting hard, learning about our team, and trying to time ourselves to have everything ready to go when that first game gets here."

Also taking the field next fall is Reinhardt’s inaugural marching band. Reinhardt Marching Band Director Freddie Martin hopes to recruit 85 to 100 instrumentalists for the fall 2013 start, with those numbers increasing each year. In early spring a "Marching Eagle Day" will welcome potential student musicians who are interested in being part of the band program.
