Kids from Birmingham UMC in Milton raise $5,000 for UM Children's Home
The Children of Birmingham UMC in Milton, Ga., raised $5,000 for the United Methodist Children’s Home in Decatur during their Vacation Bible School this month. The children held a car wash, sold items through a VBS store, hosted movie and pizza night, opened a lemonade stand, held a Chik-Fil-A fundraiser lunch, plus did extra chores at home and found many other creative ways to contribute. Some 190 children participated in the week-long event.
In addition to the funds they raised for the Children’s Home, they also brought in boxes of school supplies for “Give a Kid a Chance” in Cherokee County. Each child got involved in the effort in the true spirit of “Everywhere Fun Fair,” Where God’s World Comes Together.
Vacation Bible School is a powerful week in the life of so many churches - and most importantly in the life of so many children! Tell us about VBS at your church in the comments!
