LaGrange District Launches 'Christian Craftsmen' to Help With Church Upkeep

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” (Matt.9:37)

The LaGrange District Church Development Committee is teaming with the LaGrange District United Methodist Men to form teams of volunteers to assist churches in our District that need to make repairs/improvements to their physical plants that will extend/enhance their ministries and missional outreach to the community.

It is proposed that the District Church Development Committee will assist the UMM in setting up the initial organizational structure of the proposed team. The UMM teams will then work with the Church Development Committee on providing teams that would be available to assist the church in need of help with its repairs or improvements.

The first UMM team assisted Union Springs UMC, pastored by Rev. Earnestine Mitchell, in painting and repairs both in the interior and the exterior of the church with great success. Fifteen men and women from 7 churches pitched in to help.

A Kick-Off/Informational meeting will be held on Sept. 7 from 9 to 12 AM at Cokes Chapel UMC with refreshments.

Registration forms for those interested in volunteering can be downloaded from the district website (
