Born and raised in Venezuela, Nora currently lives in New York where she serves as Assistant General Secretary of the General Board of Global Ministries in the area of congregational development and racial ethnic ministries.
Nora focused her graduate studies on Theology, New Testament, and on the area of Society, Personality and Culture. She is an ordained Deacon in the UMC and a member of the North Georgia Conference. She has worked as college instructor, social service manager for Head Start, Associate Director at Wesley Community Center, as 10-10-10 missionary developing ministries with Latinos, and as Associate Director of the Office of New Church Development of the North Georgia Conference overseeing the development of new ministries with various immigrant groups.
Nora sees an the urgency for the church to be relevant to people of different backgrounds, languages and ethnicities, She says that outreach and missions ought not be something we do—but what we are.
Nora has two daugthers, Andrea Noricel and Claudia Victoria Martinez.
This is Nora’s second General Conference. She also served as a Jurisdictional Conference delegate in 2004 and 2008.
