The PrayerForce was asked to visit St. James UMC in Atlanta last fall.  Meeting with our Director Leah Cunningham were those interested in building a working Prayer Team which would undergird and support the ministries of the church in prayer.  The PrayerForce unloaded an arsenal of information to the group on the first visit.  We then charged them with a time of prayer, to  come up with a focus and direction for the team out of the suggestions that were given.

It was decided that the first order of business was to create a working Prayer Room.  With the cooperation of the Trustees and support of the Sr. Pastor,  the Rev. Jonathan Holston, the Team found an underutilized parlor and revamped it into a tremendous place of prayer.  It is not only a holy place of prayer,  it is also equipped with resources and tools for prayer.

The PrayerForce was invited back to see the room in late spring and we led a more focused workshop with 12 prayer warriors who will lead St. James into a being the House of Prayer God intends it to be.   The leadership team is working now on manning the prayer room for at least an hour on a daily basis, during Sunday Worship, and during administrative meetings.   Watch for God to work great things at St. James in response to their prayers.

It is important to remember that this effort  wasn't completed overnight. It took a full year for the prayer team leaders to work with much guidance and prayer to establish this Prayer Room and Team.  Be encouraged as you think about building your own Prayer Ministry.
