Bridges
Connecting the World through Missions Partnership
The purpose of Bridges is to organize North Georgia Conference churches and institutions to work together to make a difference around the world. Bridges is an international ministry sharing the love of Jesus Christ in partnership with other conferences and their local churches. Bridges will seek personal and community transformation by developing the ministries of the local church, implementing sustainable projects and avoiding dysfunctional and co-dependent relationships.

First Bridge: Uganda
Uganda is our first bridge, and we have made a 5 to 7 year commitment to the United Methodist Churches and schools in Uganda.
This past February, Bishop Mike Watson led a group of clergy and laity to Uganda to explore a partnership with our Ugandan brothers and sisters in Christ. We returned from that trip inspired by their work and convicted of our need to support these great people. We want to provide hope as we seek to internationally bridge the connection between our North Georgia and Ugandan faith communities.
There are three focus areas for this bridge to Uganda: Education, Construction projects, and Economic sustainability. We believe these focus areas will help build sustainability for the United Methodist Church in Uganda.

How to Help
This year, we feel that God has called us into three concrete ways in which our churches can help to begin building the bridge to Uganda.
1. Sponsoring Humble Place United Methodist School Students
Through a sponsorship of $1600 per child per year, we can enable Humble Place School to reach out and receive more students. It is our hope that 200 Sunday school classes from our churches could commit to raising $1600 to sponsor a Humble School student.
Contact Beth Barnwell at bbarnwell@ngumc.org for more information or to begin sponsoring a student.
2. Building a security wall around Humble Place United Methodist School
Humble Place School administrators express concern about their student’s safety. Their number one need is to construct a security wall around the school’s facilities to protect their vulnerable students and faculty. This wall would create a safe environment enabling students and faculty to feel secure while learning.
If you would like to help us build a security wall for God’s vulnerable children at Humble Place School, contact Will Zant at will.zant@ngumc.net.
3. Building a Dormitory for the girls
Currently over 80 girls are crammed together into two school classrooms.
Contact Chuck Savage at chuck.savage@ngumc.net for more information on how to help build a dormitory for the girls.
