Young Adults Gather for Pre-Conference Kick Off
Fifty young adults gathered at the Two Story Coffee House in Athens Tuesday night to fellowship and to get acclimated before Annual Conference. Bishop Mike Watson and Margaret Watson, as well as Chris and Mike Selleck, Director of Connectional Ministries, stopped by to greet the young adults.

Volunteers Still Needed for Conference Mission Project
Members of the North Georgia Annual Conference will devote Thursday evening to mission, assembling 200,000 dehydrated, nutrient-enriched meals for Stop Hunger Now. Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief ministry sponsored by the World Fellowship of Methodists and Uniting Church Men, an affiliate of the World Methodist Council. Because 25,000 persons die daily of starvation and malnutrition, the North Georgia Conference is committed to this packaging project that provides basic meals to the world's nutritionally deprived poor. Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, $50,000 has been used to purchase the ingredients. Volunteers are still needed: noon-2pm; 2:30pm-4:30pm; 5pm-7pm; 7:30pm-9:30pm on Thursday, June 17.

Documentary Film 'Playground' to Be Screened Thursday
The Advocacy Committee of the Office of Connectional Ministries will host a screening of the documentary "Playground" on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The film follows Libby Spears’ sensitive investigation into the topic of child sexual exploitation. Executive produced by George Clooney, Grant Heslov, and Steven Soderbergh, and punctuated with poignant animation by Japanese pop artist Yoshitomo Nara, "Playground" illuminates a sinister industry of unrecognized pervasiveness. Spears has crafted a comprehensive revelation of an unknown epidemic, essential viewing for any parent or engaged citizen.

If you brought Flood Buckets, Health Kits or other UMCOR Disaster Response Kits to Athens, you may deliver them to the North Georgia Disaster Response trailer in the parking lot at the corner of Hancock Avenue and Foundry Street, just across the street from the Classic Center.
