LAY MISSION TRAINING
“It all begins with God and a vision,
and LMT to assist in the development of that vision!” Jane Finley, CLL
Lay Mission Training (LMT) helps members of the local church discern and identify a call to establish a mission/ministry outside the walls of the local church and to meet the needs within the community.
LMT is one of four programs sponsored by the Conference Board of Laity.
Through a new mission/ministry of outreach, the local church has the opportunity to reach persons in need and initially support the venture as additional funds are raised through other sources. Participants of LMT, with that burning desire to help God’s people, will learn the what, when, where, who and how to begin the response to God’s call to mission and can become a natural extension for the local church.
LMT adds structure and strategy to the mission dream in sessions on Wesleyan DNA, planning, fund-raising, financial accountability, spiritual gifts, implementing the vision and launching the mission. This is a great opportunity and learning experience for the mission chair of the local church.
Dr. Warren Lathem and a professional faculty of LMT serve as a resource of knowledge and encouragement even after the course is completed. The tuition for the seminar includes all materials needed for the five sessions held at The Methodist Center of Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center on Saturdays and Sundays with lunch and snacks included.
LMT is an investment in the future for the local church through the support and tuition of a participant. A congregation with an investment in missions through funding for a participant in LMT becomes a vibrant team of committed disciples focused on others.
