Welcome to North Georgia Preschool Directors' Association!
The officers of the North Georgia UMC Preschool Directors welcome directors from all preschools. We believe that we can help each other with information about good practices, fellowship with others who are experiencing similar challenges and joys, and access to quality training experiences for ourselves and our teaching staff.
We invite you to attend our meetings and join our directors’ association. We hope you will enjoy the opportunity to discuss such topics as management policies, recruiting and staffing issues, best practices in early childhood, fundraising ideas, financial issues, registration and tuition practices, or support for the families of preschool children. Frequently we enlist speakers on these subjects who can share great ideas in our congenial setting. The opportunity to share ideas with experienced directors is invaluable and the fellowship with other church-based professionals can support you in a stressful ministry. Our fee for membership is affordable for any size preschool.
In the fall and winter we sponsor training opportunities for teachers and directors at St Timothy UMC. This service includes workshops on classroom activities and faith development as well as sessions that are required for meeting licensure. You can help your staff gain the required training hours and be better prepared to offer fun, developmentally appropriate learning activities in their classrooms.
We encourage you to pursue accreditation for your preschool through the process we have established. Our process will help you identify the strengths of your preschool and find ways to change the areas that need improvement. As a part of the process you will review the standards that represent best practices in early childhood and find ways to implement them in your school. You will be assigned a mentor to guide you through the process. Upon conclusion you will become accredited through the North Georgia UMC Conference Association of Directors as a ‘Program of Excellence.’
