Consultation and Appointment Process
North Georgia Consultation and Appointment Process for 2008-2009
Step 1: Bishop will make a video to be used by District Superintendents to train Staff-Parish Relations Committees. The video will be complted by November
Step 2: Mail appointment consultation forms to all clergy and Staff-Parish Relations Committee chairs after Christmas. Forms to be returned to Superintendents no later than January 30.
Step 3: District Superintendent will conduct District Training sessions for Staff-Parish Relations Committees. (After all SPR Chairs have been elected.)
Step 4: Each District Superintendent will schedule consultation appointments with all clergy who might move. Consultations will take place in January and February.
Step 5: Each District Superintendent will meet in January/February with all Staff-Parish Relations Committees where it is deemed necessary
Step 6: appointive Cabinet meets March 2-4 to review appointment needs for churches/pastors. Each District Superintendent will present their perspective for their district to the entire Appointive Cabinet.
Step 7: District Days – Bishop will meet with clergy or SPR Committee as needed. District Superintendents will determine who will meet with the Bishop. March 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19.
Step 8: District Superintendent has conversations with pastors and churches thought to be in the moving picture. Pastors will have the opportunity to share their interests and concerns about moving with their District Superintendents.
Step 9: Appointive Cabinet meets April 14-17 to project appointments. Appointive Cabinet then meets April 22-23 to complete projected appointments.
Step 10: District Superintendent calls pastors and SPRCs of the projected appointments.
Step 11: Appointive Cabinet meets May 12-13 to make necessary adjustments and finalize appointments.
Step 12: Final Appointments are shared with pastors and Staff-Parish Relations Committee chairs beginning on May 14. There is then a 24-hour period of confidentiality. Afterward, the chair is free to share first with the committee and then other curch leaders. Pastors is free to share with family and friends.
Step 13: Appointments are read at Annual Conference – June 19, 2009.
Step 14: Move Day – June 25, 2009.
