Glenn Memorial UMC and Fort Street UMC joined together as sister churches to sew kneelers for Fort Street UMC's sanctuary as well as a special creation of the Stations of the Cross which will be dedicated on Palm Sunday, 2014 at Glenn Memorial during the 5:05 service.
Room Service Atlanta recently brought in 30 of Atlanta's top interior designers to completely redecorate some of the cottages at United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur. These cottages house boys and girls ages 17-21 in the Independent Living Program.
The United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur got a new playground thanks to generous donations from fans of the Children's Home and The Home Depot Foundation. The Children's Home came in second place in a Facebook competition put on by The Home Depot, but challenged their Facebook community to help raise the funds to make the playground a reality anyway. Less than a year later that dream has come true and the playground was installed by none other than volunteers from The Home Depot!
North Georgia's own Dr. John Beyers, pastor of Conyers First UMC, had the honor of preaching at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Epworth, England. He was in England for the annual meeting of the World Methodist Council.
One event held by His Holiness The Dalai Lama was a unique opportunity for Emory students to engage in a lecture on Secular Ethics. Four students were allotted a chance to ask His Holiness a question, while the rest of the student-filled auditorium listened in.
St. Timothy UMC of Stone Mountain hosted a World Communion service filled with a variety of music, including The Sugar Canes, a procession of flags, and an international lunch, featuring food from the 24 nationalities represented by attendees of the church. Many worship attendees dressed up in clothing that portrays their heritage.
