Keyboards
Your keyboard is a natural catcher of dust, food, and general desk debris. The simplest way to prolong the life and proper fucntioning of a keyboard is to keep the junk out. The second simplest way is to pick it up, turn it upside down, and shake it on a periodic basis. Vigoruous shaking is not recommended. Cans of compressed air can also be used to blow out any accumulated material.
Laptops should typically not be shaken because of the hard-drive and other internal devices.
