Youth Mission Trip to Bahamas
Bahamas - North GA Conference Youth Ministry
the week of June 21 -28
Our conference youth ministry is hosting an incredible opportunity that has just been made available! Scott Parrish (Minister of Missions at Trinity on the Hill UMC and director of the Wesley Foundation at Augusta State) and Margaret Freeman (that's me - your conference director of youth and young adult ministries) recently returned from a site visit to Nassau, Bahamas with youth and young adult ministry folks from other conferences. Through our connection with the youthworker movement, we are combining with other United Methodist youth groups for a mission experience that combines a variety of mission experiences to help those very much in need, both the Bahamians and the Haitians, who have come to the Bahamas to escape the persecution in their own country, but are having a very difficult time in a new place. We are hoping to have a huge group from North Georgia take part in this mission experience the week of June 21 -28. Scott will be heading up our North Georgiacontingent that week, and his years of leading mission trips for young people will be a great asset for helping you and your group have a meaningful experience. This kind of experience is especially good for those groups that are taking their first mission trip out of the U.S. but are looking for something not so far away, where language is not a barrier, accomodations are comfortable, and there will be quality worship and praise in the evenings. You can choose from a variety of projects that fit your group's interests. This is a trip where you definitely will be with lots of United Methodist youth, as we are planning for 600 that week with several different conferences joining together.
