Just Thinking ...  "Have you heard who's going to ...."

"I Heard It Through The Clergy Grapevine"
I bet you're wonderin' how I knew
'Bout your plans to make me blue
With some other church you hoped before
Between the two of us places
You know I loved you more
It took me by surprise I must say
When I found out yesterday
Don't you know that I heard it through the clergy grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine
Oh, I heard it through the clergy grapevine
Oh, I'm just about to lose my mind

Preacher, preacher,  yeah.
I heard it through the clergy grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine rev

I know a man ain't supposed to cry
But these tears I can't hold inside
Losin' you would end my life you see
'Cause you mean that much to me
You could have told me yourself
That you loved some place else
Instead I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine
Oh, I heard it through the grapevine
And I'm just about to lose my mind

Preacher, preacher, yeah
I heard it through the clergy grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine, rev.

People say believe half of what you see
Some and none of what you hear
But I can't help but be confused
If it's true please tell me, rev
Do you plan to let me go
For the other place you longed for?

Don't you know I heard it through the clergy grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine, rev, yeah
I heard it through the grapevine
I'm just about to lose my mind
Preacher, preacher, yeah
I heard it through the clergy grapevine,
Not much longer would you be mine, rev, yeah

Preacher, preacher, yeah
I heard it through the clergy grapevine,
Not much longer would you be mine, rev, yeah, yeah
I heard it through the clergy grapevine,
Not much longer would you be mine, rev, yeah, yeah

Do not let this be the lament of your congregation or of your clergy friends! The clergy grapevine could mess us all up, as it is never totally correct and is usually filled with guesses and sour grapes. We are in a period of discernment and prayer; please do not detract from that period with clergy grapevine appointment making. Please do not play or guess with other people's lives and ministries. If it is so important to know, then ask God to give you patience until May 1. Don't let us end up singing this lament, because information "leaked" out on the clergy grapevine.

My sincere apologies to Marvin Gay! Perhaps this is the better song to sing as we wait in trust that God is in control:
When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

I hope and pray we will support one another these days with our trust, obedience, silence, and prayer.

Praying for each of you,

Dana
