Devozine and devoted2youth

the devozine story

devozine® is a devotional lifestyle magazine (devozine for short!) designed just for youth and published by The Upper Room® in Nashville, Tennessee. devozine is written by teenagers and by adults who work with and care about teens.

The magazine was launched in 1996 after a small group of teens in South Dakota challenged the church to come up with a magazine "just for them." Read about devozine's beginnings in an article from our very first issue.

devozine's purpose is to help young people 14-19 years old develop a lifelong practice of spending time with God and of reflecting on what God is doing in their lives.

Each issue of the bi-monthly, 64-page, full-color magazine focuses on nine themes, one for each week. Each theme includes weekday meditations and a feature article on the weekend. Meditations may be read in chronological or random order.

As a companion to devozine, we publish with each issue the Guide for Mentors and Small Groups. This resource gives youth workers, adult mentors, and small group leaders everything they need to lead youth through weekly sessions based on the themes presented in devozine.

The vision for devozine magazine has always included a worldwide community of young people encouraging and challenging each other. We believe that our youth website——is an added bonus to the magazine and helps to fulfill its vision by providing opportunities for youth to chat with other teens about life and about God, to share their poetry and their prayers, to contribute their opinions and their writing, to get extra spiritual food for their Christian walk.

In 2008, devozine moved into the world of mobile technology to bring you devo direct. These short Bible verses, quotes, and questions offer you a chance to connect with God throughout the day—devos on the go! Now with a Twitter account, you can receive devo direct online or on your phone.

Soon after that, we discovered the fun of social networking. We hope you will become a devozine facebook fan and follow us on Twitter!

And now we are introducing, the site just for youth workers!
