Director of Activities Ministry St James Atlanta


ST. JAMES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, a mid-size church in the Buckhead area of ATLANTA, GA., seeks highly motivated, organized and creative leadership for its activities ministry. The church and its separate activities building offers a wide range of programs composed of five main program areas: preschool enrichment, adult wellness, youth sports, rentals & birthday parties, and summer camps. The facilities include separate activities building large enough to house two full-size basketball courts, full changing and shower amenities, and separate activities rooms. The activities ministry at St. James aims to connect in fellowship with our community through these outreach programs and active schedule that is full nearly 12 hours a day, most days of the year. The activities leadership position is structured as a 30 hour, part-time position that manages the main program area and three to four part-time staff that oversee the facilities and activities on nights and weekends. Seasonal staff management is also often required for activities such as basketball leagues, scorekeeping, and summer programs. Alignment is required with church leadership and an activities committee that focuses on program development, parent/coach feedback, and facility care, etc. Salary will be determined commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants must be committed Christians with solid community outreach experience and a close personal walk with Christ. It is essential that applicants demonstrate a high level of organization, program creativity, and also be able to work well in a team setting with both paid and volunteer staff. The program shall be administered in a Christian environment in which children, youth, and adults may exercise mind, spirit, and body. The desired candidate must enjoy working with all ages and be able to cast a vision for dynamic activities programming engaged in transforming lives by teaching, leading, encouraging and engaging both participants in the program and the congregation. Strengths in communication, marketing, administration, and working cooperatively are also necessary.
