Director of Church Media and Communications

The Director of Church Media and Communications provides creative and strategic leadership for the church’s internal and external communication. This is achieved through print and digital publications, graphic design, web and social media, and video media. This is a 30 hour a week position. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Develop system to organize, prioritize and communicate the events and ministries of BUMC and oversee all written materials about said opportunities Keep the congregation informed of those events via e-mail, social media, and website maintenance. Measure social trends and web traffic and adjust plans accordingly. Also keep track of online engagement for reporting purposes. Maintain and update contact lists of visitors, members and regular attenders in order to ensure each group receives proper communications. Lead efforts to continue business as usual during software platform changes or upgrades. Proactively work to make sure BUMC maintains an effective presence on the web including style/presence, search engines, new technology. Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) are posted regularly. Manage ongoing social media messaging and communication strategies, particularly Facebook and Instagram. Creates weekly worship guides/bulletins for both online services and in-person services Uploads weekly online worship service to premiere on Sunday mornings and posts sermons to our website and other platforms after premiere. Design art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence and effectiveness. Creating and distributing informative materials, signage and advertising, print and digital that allows visitors to sense who we are and that we value their presence. Work alongside the ministry and worship staff to create consistency in messaging and BUMC brand from all aspects. Qualifications: A heart for the local church, a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to help others find and follow Jesus Degree in Communications, media or related field required. Preference given to those with social media and website expertise Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies Proven ability to take projects from beginning to end Organized, creative and able to manage multiple projects Relates well to all kinds of people, builds effective relationships, communicates effectively both interpersonally and corporately Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment in a calm, calculated and mature fashion. Required Skills: Graphic Design, Social Media Strategy, Web Design and Maintenance, Marketing Strategy, Copywriting, Multi-Tasking, Team Communication Proficiencies in: WordPress, Constant Contact, Google Drive, Adobe Photoshop.
