Children's Director - Bethany UMC, Smyrna, GA


Bethany UMC is medium-sized church in a vibrant area of Cobb County. We are looking for a children's director who will be able to connect with children and their families within our church and beyond that they might know the love of Jesus Christ and develop a desire to learn of him. A successful candidate will have the capacity to: - Establish and maintain relationships of trust with children, parents, and volunteers in the church and in the community. - Build relationships with Sunday School classes, small groups, and other connectional groups within the body of the church to engage them with volunteer and support opportunities for special events. - Continually identify and empower servant leaders to assist with special events throughout the year. Provide training for servant leaders in children’s ministry. - Vision, plan, and implement Children’s Ministry events. - Plan and execute high-quality, developmentally appropriate faith formation experiences. - Vision, plan, and lead children’s small groups by generating creating engaging learning environments through use of multi-sensory activities such as music, video, and hands-on lessons in Sunday School, midweek school-year programming and summer family events. - Create and nurture a culture of inclusion, recognizing the diversity of our members and community. Will be sensitive to these differences in their selection of materials and activities. The role will require 20 hours per week during the school year. During the 8-wk. summer period, the hours will vary based on activities (VBS, Outreach VBS, Mission Trip, other summer activities).
