St. James Church in Athens, GA is in search for a Children’s Minister who will teach kids the Good News and show them Jesus. This person will cast the vision for a vibrant Children’s Ministry that will allow kids to experience God – not just learn about Him – in a relevant and relational way. They will collaborate with our Youth Minister and Ministry Team to develop and implement ministry and discipleship for children and families. They will recruit, train, and disciple a team of Children’s Ministry teachers and volunteers and develop a dynamic and committed team of parents and other church members to serve on the Children’s Ministry Team. The Children’s Minister will equip parents with skills and resources to disciple their children and develop and maintain relationships with children and their families. They will work with the Missions Team and Youth Ministry to create/identify/promote opportunities for children and families to serve together in the church and community. As Children’s Minister, they will work with a team of volunteers to plan and organize special events, as well as support children and families by attending school and community events in which they are participating. The Children’s Minister will be an advocate for children and families across all areas of ministry. Our Children’s Minister will collaborate with the Youth Minister and Assistant Children’s Minister to review and select curriculum for Sunday School and other classes/events where there is overlap within families, and maintain regular communication with parents, teachers, volunteers and all levels of church leader leadership (utilizing email, social media, handwritten notes, etc.). They will highlight Children’s Ministry activities in the weekly newsletter by submitting news, photos and other material and will be responsible for preparing and managing an annual budget for our Children’s Ministry, as well as maintaining a Resource Room and children’s classrooms and purchasing supplies and other items as needed. They will develop and implement policies for the safety and security of children and also attend meetings, workshops, and retreats, and perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor. The candidate must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity and a close, consistent walk with Him. They must have a knowledge of the Bible, be servant-hearted and self-motivated, and also possess a passion for ministry to children and families. They must have a commitment to the church’s theological stance and strong organizational, communication and leadership skills, as well as basic computer skills. A college degree is preferred.
