Part-time Communications Director


The Director of Communication is responsible for promoting the identity, ministries, programs, and missions of Midway United Methodist Church through various media to ensure accurate, creative, and consistent tone, appearance, and delivery. The position will work in collaboration with department heads/ministry leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy including marketing/communications for PR, content marketing, digital marketing, social media, electronic newsletters, and printed materials. In addition, the Director of Communication shares in the mission of Midway UMC to make disciples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by igniting Christ centered community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintain social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) • Develops and updates webpage content to ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) are posted regularly • Administers and coordinates all outside media communications (local publications). • Administers and supports Midway's signage; interior and exterior • Compiles and distributes e-newsletters • Supports and coordinates the promotional and communications activities of various ministries as required. • Develops volunteer teams as deemed necessary to accomplish communication goals • Lead efforts to design all art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence, and effectiveness • Actively develops, promotes, and communicates church wide events and activities through digital and print materials and develops content for Midway's social media • Other duties as assigned COMPETENCIES: • Creative, innovative, strategic thinker • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Completes work on time, is self-motivated, demonstrates organizational and management skills • Ability to work independently or within a team environment • Competent in knowledge and execution of graphic software along with other current worship software • Ability to learn and gain proficiency in new graphic software as required • Maintains and portrays a positive attitude and appearance • Meets essential Midway employment requirements • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; bachelor's degree preferred • Computer experience and skills required (PhotoShop, ProPresenter, MS Windows, MS-Office, In-Design or related graphic software) • Solid foundation in the Christian faith PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
