Missions Director


McEachern UMC is seeking a full-time Missions Director. This position focuses on leading the volunteer Missions team to strategize, plan, and activate local Missions initiatives and global Missions programs. This person will work collaboratively with our congregation and staff. McEachern United Methodist Church Missions Director Position Type: Full Time, Exempt Reports to: Senior Pastor Primary Function: (Why the ministry exists, its’ purpose) • To glorify God by bringing the Gospel to all people, locally and worldwide. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (What needs to be done to accomplish ministry’s purpose) • To build and expand a culture of missional outreach at MMUMC • To develop a Missions Plan of Action • To be the voice of missions to the congregation and the staff • To effectively communicate Missions strategy and service opportunities to the congregation • To build relationships within and beyond the local community in determining critical needs and outreach options • To inspire, prepare, and train teams for full and effective participation in Missional opportunities • To ensure all participants in Missions activities are trained and functioning within the compliance requirements of MMUMC and our outreach partners • To monitor and manage operating Missions budget • To be a collaborative participant in other ministry areas of MMUMC Qualifications: (Skills, experience, and knowledge needed to accomplish ministry’s purpose) • Experience leading or supporting outreach initiatives • A heart for leading self and others in fulfilling the Great Commission • Leadership skills • Strong Organization skills • Communication skills • Ability to recruit and lead teams Performance Behaviors: (Universal core traits required to accomplish every ministry’s purpose and overall ministry of the local church) • Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ; seeking to know, love, and serve God • Exemplify the church’s values and uphold the staff covenant • Understand and be able to champion the church’s purpose, vision, and journey, and the theology and traditions of the UMC • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and communicate effectively • Proven planning and organizational skills, must be a self-starter, highly motivated, strategic, flexible, efficient, and capable of following projects through to completion • Demonstrates excellence collaborating with others • Able to manage time effectively, problem solve, and make decisions • Remaining flexible and positive in an environment with frequent and last-minute changes • Resolves conflicts quickly and with integrity • Openness to take on special projects or assignments Specific Performance Behaviors: (Core traits specific to position) • Recruiting, equipping, and mobilizing laity to implement ministry programs and activities • Demonstrate cultural competencies; able to cultivate relationships within the communities we serve, bridging across global, racial, denominational, ethnic, and socio-economic lines • Supervising, leading, and supporting direct reports in the accomplishment of their ministry and goals • Able to effectively manage volunteers and teams • Being energized by outreach
