Director of Student Ministries


St. Andrew UMC in Marietta is seeking at part-time (20 hours/week) Director of Student Ministries. The Director of Student Ministry serves as the primary implementer of student ministry, casting the vision, directing the plan, and developing collaboration and cohesion among the staff, students, volunteers and student families. The Director is to supervise and give direction for ministries to students in grades 6 -12. This person will oversee, organize, and implement ministry to, with, and alongside students to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. 


  • Sunday Morning Sunday School: Research and use curriculum that is rooted in Wesleyan theology, teach students and encourage attendance of Sunday Morning Worship.
  • Sunday Night UMYF: Develop programming, fellowship, meal planning, small group Bible study, message and music for the youth group.
  • Communication: Oversee content for website, email distribution, text service and social media channels (including weekly devotions) keeping youth and families informed, engaged, and inspired. Ensure that youth and families receive a weekly update on activities, important dates, and needs.
  • Special Events: Lead and plan Confirmation, retreats, Youth night out, Bible studies, Youth Sunday Worship, Graduate Sunday, etc.
  • Missions: Oversee organization and implementation of both local and global mission opportunities and partnerships to further spread God’s word through ministry and service.
  • Internship Program: Recruit, coach and encourage interns to ultimately enhance the student ministry while developing future disciples of Christ.
  • Emotional Connectivity: The Director will provide a connection to pastoral care for youth and families by equipping and supporting students, leaders and families in crisis by serving as the point person to guide and counsel their needs.
  • Partner with Lay Leadership: Work as a team with volunteers to develop a strong student ministry leadership team relying heavily on collaboration and overall teamwork to cultivate a thriving vibrant student ministry
  • Administration: Create a realistic budget for student ministries that accurately reflects expenses and income. Practice good stewardship over resources and monitor spending through organization and planning. Plan and oversee all activities associated with the yearly pumpkin patch, which is student ministries’ biggest fundraiser.
  • Qualifications: 
  • College degree
  • Minimum two years experience in student ministries
  • Solid foundation in Wesleyan theology and doctrine
