POSITION: Children’s Ministry Assistant,
Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church
Requirements of Position:
• Candidate must be at least 18 years old
• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and understands the heart behind our
ministry to children and families.
• Proven dynamic ability to work with kids of all ages (primarily elementary
age) and work respectfully with parents and volunteers. Passion for
children’s ministry is required.
• Servant’s heart: willingness to perform administrative and mundane tasks,
including large amounts of prep work such as cutting out of materials and
organizing supplies for activities.
• Ability to step in and help Director lead programs- i.e. leading large group
lesson time or small groups as needed. Availability to help with programing:
o Terrific Tuesday, Wednesday Night Programming & Sunday School
• Must show proven ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive
information.
• Proven organizational and management skills required. Attention to detail is
a must.
• Able to move and lift supplies.
• Understand and comply with church rules, regulations, policies, and
procedures.
MAIN PURPOSE:
To provide administrative and ministry support to Children’s Director. Have a heart
to serve our children and families, by helping to prepare materials and
environments. Desire to help nurture, equip, and provide spaces to help our
children and families grow in Christlikeness.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Under the direct supervision of the Children’s Director, Children’s Parent Committee
and Staff- Pastor-Relations-Committee.
RESPONSIBILITY & DUTIES Children’s Ministry Assistant:
1. Assist in planning, organizing, and executing activities to help grow the children’s
ministry program of Porterfield United Methodist Church.
2. Help prepare materials and environments for weekly activities and attend:
Sunday School, Terrific Tuesday/FFGO and Wednesday Nights.
3. Decorate children’s environment for monthly themes.
4. 30 hours a week. Occasionally an opportunity for more hours during times of
special events.
5. Assist Children’s Director with special projects and events – i.e. Trunk or Treat,
Christmas Programs, Easter Egg Hunt, KidzQuest and SeaWorld.
6. Any other duties as required or assigned.
