Jonesboro First UMC seeks an energetic, committed disciple of Jesus to assist the senior pastor. Jonesboro First celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2020 and has a long history of supporting congregational members. We are a diverse congregation and encourage diversity in our staff and leaders.
The focus of this part-time position includes is on congregational care and visitation, but the assistant pastor also leads worship services, facilitates Bible studies, and preaches on occasion. Duties includes keeping track of and maintaining connection with members who are unable to attend church regularly.
Successful candidates will demonstrate an understanding of United Methodist doctrine and theology; excellent written and verbal communication skills; conflict management skills; computer skills; proven ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams of volunteers; and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of information shared when needed.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is desired and a master’s degree in a related theology field is desired.
