Jonesboro First UMC seeks an energetic, committed disciple of Jesus to serve as the first point of contact for the church and provide administrative support across the organization. The administrator handles the flow of people through the church and ensures that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
Jonesboro First celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2020 with a diverse congregation and encourages diversity in our staff and leaders.
This part-time position includes responsibility for daily management of the church office, performing general clerical duties, including greeting and directing visitors as appropriate; answering and screening phone calls; sorting mail and deliveries; assisting visitors in search of financial aid and food assistance; proofreading and editing church publications; setting up Zoom meetings and maintaining the church calendar; coordinating and maintaining staff vacation schedule; coordinating all statistical and conference reporting; and recording membership changes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; and proficiency and knowledge of computer systems (including Microsoft Office Suite), electronic communication and other basic office equipment. The administrator must be able to prioritize and multi-task; maintain confidentiality with sensitive information; assist as needed in crisis situations; and serve as the liaison between the congregation and Senior Pastor.
A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
