Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, a growing community of faith situated in the rapidly growing community of Columbia County in Evans, GA is seeking a Part-Time Children’s Minister (20 hours/week) to lead ministry with children from birth to 5th grade.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Children’s Minister coordinates and leads spiritual formation opportunities for children from birth to 5th grade that establishes and nourishes Christian discipleship through a personal and vital
relationship with Jesus Christ. This position will supervise all volunteers and staff in Children’s Ministry and will report to the Senior Pastor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Institutes and coordinates all infant to 5th-grade programming to include nursery care, Sunday School classes, Bible studies, midweek programs, service opportunities, discussions, and fellowship opportunities.

Coordinates work schedule for nursery.
Keeps updated attendance records of all children’s programs.
Contributes to and collaborates with the broader church for integrated, meaningful, and intentional ways to connect the children to the church, reminding the congregation of its responsibility of spiritually forming children and youth.
Connects children into the faith community, incorporating them into the life of the church in meaningful ways.
Collaborates with the Youth Minister to ensure a comprehensive faith development strategy to connect with families.
Recruits, trains, and encourages a team of ministry volunteers in such a way that all are effectively and regularly encouraged to grow in their faith and in their skills as adult leaders
Teaches Sunday School and small group Bible studies as needed when volunteer coordination is not possible.
Assists with special events that seek to reach families in our community, including but not limited to, Easter Egg Hunt, Children’s Christmas Eve Worship, and Vacation Bible School.
Develops one-to-one relationships with children and their families to help them grow as Christian believers; trains other adults in the church to assist in this endeavor.
Provides pastoral care to children when they are in the hospital or experiencing other crisis moments.
Provides all first-time guests with follow-up so all children who want to become a part of the children’s ministry do so in a way that feels welcoming and natural to them.
Abides by Safe Sanctuaries protocols and all other safety guidelines of the church.
Advises Children’s Ministry Team in the use of program materials, curriculum, equipment, supplies, and space by children in all church program organizations.
Works with program leaders, teachers, and appropriate staff members to resolve philosophical, procedural, and scheduling problems in the children’s ministry.
Develops an annual budget for children’s ministry and serves as a good steward of financial resources directed to the children’s ministry.
Keeps staff, students, and parents informed of activities and connects with children via multiple digital platforms. Coordinates marketing and promotion of children's activities with the Communications Team.
