Sandy Springs United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Community Connection to help fulfill our vision: We are a wellspring of love and hospitality. We seek to build life-changing relationships, nurture spiritual growth, and foster service through impactful partnerships.
We are a historic church located in a thriving downtown Sandy Springs community and we’re looking to reinvent ourselves for the next generation. Thanks to the smart investments of past congregations, we have a unique opportunity to redevelop our property and build a brand new church on our idyllic urban campus. But we know church is so much more than a building and we need someone with a passion for community and a love for people who can help us build a vision for the future and bring new missions to life.
The Director will be the identifier, recruiter, and equipper of teams that coordinate events that build community and connection; develop and implement systems that connect newcomers into the life of the church; oversee radical hospitality at all services and events; and engage the wider community through service opportunities and outreach events. The Director will have primary oversight for these ministry areas while recruiting, equipping, and empowering volunteers to serve. We are open to qualified candidates from all different backgrounds – clergy, lay persons, non-profit leaders and more.
The right candidate will have a passion for reaching new people in new ways, be energized by creating new ministry opportunities, and thrive in an environment and position that is adaptable and flexible.
Qualifications and Skills:
*A passionate disciple of Jesus Christ who is committed to the mission and vision of the church
*Passion for and Demonstrated experience sharing Christ with others and inviting them into the life of a church
*Organized, efficient self-starter who takes initiative
*Team player and works collaboratively with staff and volunteers
*Skilled and experienced creator and implementer of systems
*Experience recruiting, equipping, and leading teams of volunteers
*Plans and executes events with excellence
Hours and Pay
Full Time, Exempt; Weekend and Evening Hours Expected, including Sundays
Package includes competitive salary, health insurance, vacation days, and retirement benefits
