Director of Music--Part Time

Sandy Springs United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Director of Music Ministries to help fulfill our vision: We are a wellspring of love and hospitality. We seek to build life-changing relationships, nurture spiritual growth, and foster service through impactful partnerships.

We are a historic church located in a thriving downtown community and we’re looking to reinvent ourselves for the next generation. Thanks to the smart investments of past congregations, we have a unique opportunity to redevelop our property and build a brand new church on our idyllic urban campus. But we know church is so much more than a building and we need someone with a passion for leading our current music ministry while helping us cast a vision for new ministries in the future. We are looking for someone to lead the congregation in joyful, energetic, participatory worship, with a passion for reaching new people.

The church currently has one service on Sunday mornings at 11am; the Music Director will accompany the congregation on Sunday mornings; rehearse with and lead the choir; and plan worship with the pastor. There are opportunities to grow music ministries with children, youth, and instrumentalists/ensembles.

Qualifications and Skills:
*A passionate disciple of Jesus Christ who is committed to the mission and vision of the church
*Proficiency in piano; if not an organist, ability to schedule organists to play regularly
*Skilled teacher and conductor;
*Bachelor’s degree in music, or equivalent experience, with demonstrated experience in church music leadership.
*Organized, efficient self-starter who takes initiative
*Team player and works collaboratively with staff and volunteers
*Flexible and adaptable
