Glenn After School Program Director

The Director is responsible for the overall supervision, operation and maintenance of the Glenn After School Program. The Director is supervised by the Glenn Church Senior Pastor or his/her designated staff person and reports to Glenn After School Board.

The center follows the school calendars for Dekalb and Atlanta Public Schools. The Director’s hours include the center’s hours from 2pm until 6:15pm Monday thru Friday as well as extra hours for a weekly church staff meeting, grocery shopping, annual training, a monthly Church Council meeting and other Glenn Church Outreach activities.

Qualifications:
Possess at least one of the following academic requirements per Bright From the Start” Rules and Regulations 591-1-1-.31:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, CDA, TCC, or TCD with childcare experience, or 40-hour director training course approved by Bright From the Start plus 5 years previous director experience.
Successfully pass a national background check with fingerprints, never had evidence of abuse, neglect, or intentional injury to a child or adult
Obtain a driver’s license history. Must have a clean record

Responsibilities:
Hiring and training of staff.
Write contracts for each staff member
Train staff and assign duties
Supervision of the center’s staff and children
Manage children’s behavioral problems
Prepare schedule for staff and children
Ensure Bright From the Start’s Rules and Regulations are reviewed with staff and followed
Greet parents and provide support to families as needed
Complete a minimum 10 hours annual training thru Bright From the Start
Complete and keep current Safe Sanctuaries, CPR and First Aid training
Audit day to day and monthly bookkeeping
Schedule and prepare for three Board of Directors meeting during the school year
Work with Glenn Church to fill Board of Director positions
Develop an annual budget with the Treasurer
Market the program to elementary schools, rising kindergarteners from local preschools, Glenn Church community, and local parent networks
Liaison with Glenn Church in managing buses, filling with gas and requesting maintenance
Plan daily menu and activities.
Purchase snack items and post two week menu
Prepare annual evaluation on all employees and meet with each one to discuss
Ensure all employees required training is completed on time
Drive school bus and fill in for counselors and assistant director as needed
Maintain and audit employee and student files
Coordinate with Glenn Church and Glenn School for semi-annual Glenn School Sale

Skills:
Must be self-motivated, adaptable, able to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
Ability to resolve conflict, communicate effectively, and make decisions also required.
