Full Time Director of Children and Family Ministries


Douglasville First UMC is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to develop and lead a comprehensive ministry for children from birth-5th grade and their families. This job is 32+ hours per week with flexible weekday office hours with attendance required on Sunday mornings, during weeknight/weekend programming and events. Benefits are available, salary is commensurate with experience.

● Have a sound Christian faith with a personal understanding of discipleship,worship, service, giving, and witness.
● Demonstrate a genuine passion for children and a desire to see them grow in faith and develop as followers of Jesus Christ.
● Have a call that is evidenced by a consistent commitment to Christian values and a life lived as a witness of God’s grace.
● Be committed to teaching that is in line with sound Wesleyan theology and not conflict with The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church.
● Previous experience leading Children’s Ministry is required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

● Strong outreach skills with a desire to engage the community
● Ability to manage people and resources effectively and in a loving manner, showing strong interpersonal skills
● Ability to effectively communication to children and parents through verbal and written communication
● Strong computer and social media skills are necessary
● CPR and First Aid certification preferred DUTIES
● Recruit, inspire, support and resource volunteers to engage children in contemporary, fun and relevant ministry models.
● Establish and maintain caring relationships with children, parents and volunteers. Keep the Pastor informed of any care concerns of children and/or their families.
● Ensure a safe environment for all children by personally adhering to and carrying out the church’s Safe Sanctuary policy, including on-going training of all staff and volunteers.
● General administration including, but not limited to: programming scheduling and resourcing, ordering curriculum and other supplies, tracking attendance, setting and adhering to a budget, promotional materials for web and print.
● Develop and coordinate activities for Sunday morning and weekday programming as well as special events (VBS, Easter, etc).
● Responsible for hiring and scheduling nursery staff as needed for all ministries.
● Take part in professional development through co-horts and other training programs offered by the United Methodist Conference of other approved organizations.
● Attend staff meetings and other staff development events
● Other duties as assigned

This position requires frequent sitting, walking and lifting heavy objects including small children. A background check is required.
