End of Year Reports
January 12-31
The End of Year Reports (Tables 1-4) are to be submitted online through Data Services (https://data.ngumc.org) annually in January. The entry period for 2021 Reports is January 12-31, 2022.

St. James, Alpharetta UMC Change of Venue

Due to the high transmissibility of the new COVID variant, St. James UMC has decided to hold our annual MLK service virtually.  The dynamic nature of the original program necessitates our being in person so,  St. James UMC Alpharetta is excited to host a virtual service entitled – Beloved Community: The Next Generation for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  We continue to celebrate Dr. King because his dream of beloved community is biblical (Rev. 5:9).

Join us, online, on January 17 at 10:00 am via our social media channels where we will hear our youth as they express themselves through song, dance and word and our guest speakers as they deliver a charge for what it means to have our next generation live into beloved community.

If you have any questions, please email our Event Coordinator, Rita Morgan at rmorgan@stjamesumc.org or call 404-668-6963.

God's CAP (God's Call and Purpose) at Northside UMC

Nate Juvinall, Director of Student Ministries at Northside, UMC and CND Youth Coordinator invites your church’s youth groups to join Northside youth for the kick-off of
God’s CAP on January 30.

God’s CAP, short for God’s Call and Purpose, is a brand-new youth mentoring program offered by Northside’s Student Ministry.

The objective is to help our youth to focus on the intersection of faith and life, as they begin to pursue their interests, giftedness, callings, and careers. This program is designed to evolve into mentorships providing ongoing guidance and support to youth in their endeavors.

The night will include dinner, panel discussions with accomplished young adults, and small group breakouts.

This is an in-person event. If you are unable to attend this session, it will be recorded and made available for your use later.

To sign up for January 30th and/or to include your youth in the CAP initiative: Contact Nate Juvinall ASAP at natej@northside.org

BEAT Grant Information

Dear North Georgia United Methodists,

At the close of 2021, the Barnes Evaluation and Administration Team spent time reflecting on processes and adjustments that were both needed and beneficial to continue doing the excellent missional work the Barnes Fund allows.

The following are newly announced CHANGES to 2022 BEAT grant investments:

1) In 2021, applications were accepted every month. In 2022, the Barnes Fund is adjusting to THREE grant application windows. Deadlines for each window are February 1, May 1, and September 1. An application must be thoroughly complete to be properly before the BEAT team for review. If an application is not complete it will be returned and deferred until the next window.

2) In 2021, grant investments were only available to local churches and districts. 2022 will see an expansion of eligibility to “Standing Boards and Committees of the Annual Conference.” In the coming days, BEAT will publish a list of eligible entities and communicate this expansion.

3) District Strategic Growth Teams will continue to be the gateway for local church and district grant application submissions.  The Consolidated Board (or a sub-team thereof) will become the vetting gateway for "Standing Boards and Committees of the Annual Conference" and function similar to DSGTs for groups that will become eligible to apply for grant investment under the expansion.

4) BEAT will be working to develop a flexible process for grant opportunities that arise between funding windows. Any request would receive extra scrutiny to determine its urgency and emergent reasons for not being deferred to the next open window. Capital repair grant requests will not be categorized as emergent and urgent.

As always, please remember that BEAT relies upon each of you to aid us in communicating these new procedures to your local churches. If you have clarifying questions, feel free to reach out to us for answers.

We would remind you that BEAT's best practices and processes are dynamic and the changes we are making for 2022 may change for 2023.
Looking forward to another great year of Kingdom work together...

Nate Abrams and Steven Usry
BEAT Co-Chairs

Message from Bishop and Cabinet About Disaffiliation Process

As we approach the New Year, some have asked questions about the disaffiliation process a church must take to disaffiliate from The United Methodist Church per Book of Discipline paragraph 2553. Contact your District Superintendent for detailed information as to Conference Board of Trustees and Disciplinary requirements.

Because of the various steps required in order to be properly before the Annual Conference for a vote in 2022, the deadline for submitting requests to your District Superintendent is February 15.

Ministry Partner 'Vanco Faith' Offers Online Giving Tools for Local Churches

Aligning with stewardship season in many congregations, the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) has announced that Vanco has renewed its ministry partnership with GCFA through 2024. Vanco Faith helps churches thrive by providing online giving tools, giving pages that use a church’s own photos and stories, a church engagement app to keep members connected, and a variety of giving options to encourage giving to church ministries. The Vanco giving platform integrates with multiple church management software providers so churches are not required to change software.

Vanco provides services to more than 3,000 United Methodist churches and ministries.
