Collect

"Today we pray for our church and our world. As we face times of discouragement and suffering, help us to remember that victory is not by our own efforts but by Your power and strength. You are my King and my God. When we are lost and alone, pour out Your Spirit on us and make your loving presence known. We will not turn away. Just as you fought for Israel in ancient times, we know that our enemies have no power if You are with us. We will triumph in Your glory. Redeem us so that we respond to this broken world not with fear and anger, but with grace, compassion, and love in Your holy name. Amen."

—Dena Brett, Wesley UMC

NOTE: A "collect" (call-ect) is a simple, focused prayer.

Psalm

Because you have made the Lord your refuge,
the Most High your dwelling place,
no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
Psalm 91:9-10

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

About the Prayer and Preparation Project

Each day from April 30 to June 3 you will be prompted with a Psalm to read, a short breath prayer or collect (call-ect) written by a North Georgia United Methodist, and prayers of invocation.

We invite you to share this with your family, small group, congregation, and Christian community. Whether you are attending Annual Conference or not, we pray this will better prepare all of us for true holy conferencing.
