Breath Prayer

Inhale:
Look Upon Us, God.

Exhale:
Restore us, Lord of Hosts.

O God, we confess that it sometimes feels as if the walls have been broken down and the fields we have tended are in ruins.

At times we feel like we are despised by our neighbors and sometimes we are the ones who speak with disdain about our brothers and sisters. Lord, we confess that ought not be so.

Forgive us for the divisions among us that hinder the growth of your church. Have mercy on us when we forget to tend the fields as we should. Pardon us when we fail to produce fruit that lasts.

From where we stand the fields seem ruined, but we can only see a portion of what you have planted. Widen our gaze, O Lord. Grant us the perspective we need to continue planting, gathering, and sharing with those in need.

Let your face shine upon us. O God. And as we journey into the future, help us to prune what is not fruitful, rebuild what has been damaged, and to recruit more workers for your harvest.

Rev. Blake Trent, Dallas First United Methodist Church

Psalm

Restore us, O God of hosts,
let your face shine, that we may be saved.
Psalm 80:3

Memory Verse

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Joel2:28

About the Prayer and Preparation Project

Each day from April 30 to June 3 you will be prompted with a Psalm to read, a short breath prayer or collect (call-ect) written by a North Georgia United Methodist, and prayers of invocation.

We invite you to share this with your family, small group, congregation, and Christian community. Whether you are attending Annual Conference or not, we pray this will better prepare all of us for true holy conferencing.
