Collect

Gracious God of all generations,

Thank you for those who have gone before us shining your light in the darkness. Thank you for those who have discipled us in your righteous ways. Thank you for their example of strength, generosity, mercy, and compassion. And thank you for their stories of your faithfulness – in good times and bad.

Lead us in your righteousness. Show us your ways so that we may be light to others. Strengthen and steady our hearts so that your faithfulness will be remembered, and your name glorified by those who come behind us. We humbly ask these things in Jesus’ name.

—Dawn Townsend, Calhoun First UMC

NOTE: A "collect" (call-ect) is a simple, focused prayer.

About the Prayer and Preparation Project

Each day from April 30 to June 3 you will be prompted with a Psalm to read, a short breath prayer or collect (call-ect) written by a North Georgia United Methodist, and prayers of invocation.

We invite you to share this with your family, small group, congregation, and Christian community. Whether you are attending Annual Conference or not, we pray this will better prepare all of us for true holy conferencing.
