Collect

Faithful and loving God, Even as we cry out, wondering how long we must endure suffering, we know that your love endures forever. Heal us, we pray. Grant us the strength to carry our burdens. Grant us the wisdom to listen for you in every moment of distress, to watch for your work and presence in every moment of crisis. For we know that you are at work in us and through us, even in our darkest hours. Remind us, oh God, of your grace in all things. In Jesus most holy name we pray. Amen.
—Nate Abrams, Conference Lay Leader

NOTE: A "collect" (call-ect) is a simple, focused prayer.

Psalm

The Lord has heard my supplication;
the Lord accepts my prayer
Psalm 6:9

Memory Verse

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Joel2:28

Prayers of Invocation

Week 1: Focus on Health and Wellbeing
Lord, pour out your Holy Spirit upon…

  • the places and communities where churches will need to resurrect after we navigate our own season of division and death.
  • all those who are faithfully loving your people in the midst of a world that hurts and experiences agony far too often.
  • leaders who face resistance...and even personal attack...regardless of how they lead because people are so divided that we've lost compassion for one another and perspective beyond ourselves.
  • those whose fear is so overpowering that change feels like a threat. Let your Spirit be a force of comfort for transformation and freedom to learn and grow.

About the Prayer and Preparation Project

Each day from April 30 to June 3 you will be prompted with a Psalm to read, a short breath prayer or collect (call-ect) written by a North Georgia United Methodist, and prayers of invocation.

We invite you to share this with your family, small group, congregation, and Christian community. Whether you are attending Annual Conference or not, we pray this will better prepare all of us for true holy conferencing.
